Hula dancing in wobbly boots...
Tuesday 8th December
Linda Boombah
Just had a fabulous Italian day. Late breakfast, then into town for a browse about the shops. Found the style of coffee I love…a macchiato (espresso with a dash of latte to soften the coffee) just love it and feel like a real Italian now. Managed to fit three in today. Found time for gelati…hazelnut for me, toffee & almond for Russ.
We lunched on antipasti and torte in a little cafĂ© then taxi home for siesta. I slept the deepest sleep I can remember in the longest time. We woke to shower, and then a glass of vino bianco. In about an hour we’ll go to the lovely little local restaurant, pick up Eva the New Zealand Signora and have a lovely evening of some of the finest foods I’ve ever tasted.
It’s all good.
Ciao for now.

I know this is hard to believe but, I am short for words today. We have had a nice day the sky was cloudy and cold blah,,blah blah. But did have a nice sleep this afternoon and am now sitting in a warm kitchen with a nice glass of wine and just waiting to go to dinner.
What is really nice is that we have time to talk here, Italian time as I have mentioned is slower than at home , you don’t let work get in the way of a good drink and some family time and I think that is what I am enjoying the most.
The next Morning….
Oh my goodness…some sore heads today. We had the most hilarious and fabulous time at dinner, way too much Vino, followed by Sambucca, we all had our wobbly boots on when we walked to Eva’s home ,waving cigars in hand like the Marx brothers and the evening then went downhill ??? Eva served some kind of potent raspberry liqueur that was delicious! With dancing and singing and a fabulous rendition of “Carra barra wirra canna” the Maori lullaby by Eva; accompanied by me doing a hula dance to tell the story “apparently” I said, with absolute authority “that its all in the hips, you have to figure eight your hips….” How the heck would I know that!!! I remember hula dancing the last time ( many years ago!) that I was a wee bit intoxicated and I think I may have a party trick that I didn’t even know I had!
We were all well into our cups by the time we fare welled Eva, and rolled up the hill to our beds. A marvelous evening …….
We were all up early as Brad and Trish had a hasty departure to Rome to catch a plane to Spain. We all know that the rain in Spain stays mainly on the plane so we hope they have a good trip. Russell and I decided to have today at home and head to Florence tomorrow.
We did some washing, posted some postcards, bought meats and cheeses from our little shop and were home in our little villa in front of the fire when the drizzly rain started.
When Russ shook the crumbs off the table cloth out the window he spotted our first snow on our mountain, just a dusting, but ever so pretty. The temperature has really dropped and if we are lucky we may have some snow before we go tomorrow.
How perfect.
