Mighty fine roasta pig

Wednesday December 2,

From the desk of Rusilio

Spent the day playing in Salmona, very nice day but did have way too much coffee ,I don’t think I will blink for 2 days now.
Slowly eating my way through the gelati shop and am enjoying it no end, but I did start on the small cones just to be sensible.
Walked into the main piazza today and to my dismay a market was on, lots fruit veges and stuff I have never seen or herd of and also lots clothes, shoes and jewellery so Linda really enjoyed it. As we went up and down the rows a smell came wafting on the wind, a van that cooked a whole boned pig on a spit, 1 meter long and 500mm thick covered in its own crackle. I say it again I was born to the wrong parents in the wrong country.
Finished off the day with a nice Vino at the local bar.

Its cold now, all the mountains around us are covered in snow, Bernie Bruton would love it here. We keep watching it descend lower and lower so soon we will be knee deep it the stuff, then complain of being cold and wet.
Off to Naples tomorrow so will report in from there soon .

Linda Here…
What can I say …markets…I could have bought shoes, bags, bric a brac ; food, antiques you name it…but was very mindful of what we can fit in so held back to a couple of lightweight jumpers, and a few little gifts…
Had my first espresso today…take it or leave it? Happy to leave it…who wants hair on their chest anyway, although Trish seems to love the strong flavour…must be those Mediterranean roots.
We are getting so brave and venturing far and wide armed only with our lonely planet phrase book and a knack for charades. Russ so proud as today he phoned for a Taxi and ordered it himself…not a mean feat when the person on the other end only speaks Italian.
Tomorrow will be a big adventure. Catching a bus to Naples ( and to visit Pompeii )then when we arrive find a B&B, settle in then organize our sightseeing for the next day. Packing just a little trip bag, so only change of undies and our toothbrushes (Only joking but lighter the better)
Including some pics here of today…including the Roasta Pig!!! Also the flowers made from the confetti or lollies, famous from Sulmona and some sights about town.
Hey Gooch boys we know how you would love this!
Hope you are enjoying our updates.
Love Lin X
