Monday 30th November

Monday 30th November 09
Heading off today to Pescara which is on the Adriatic coast about an hour from here. Opposite side of Italy to Roma. We hope to pick up the car we’re borrowing and tootle off exploring the countryside as we go.
Yesterday Brad and Trish were up early to head into Sulmona and since the autobus doesn’t run on Sundays they decided to hitch hike. It’s apparently what you do as they only waited a few minuto before they were picked up. We giggled all day imagining trish in the back of the car nursing a pig, next to a crate of chickens. They spent the day touring some of the sites of Sulmona.
Russ and I enjoyed a day at home by ourselves. It was a beautiful Sunny day and we walked around the town and on some of the tracks up the sides of the valley. We had cappuccino at the local café and then home for a bit of lunch and siesta.
We’ve both noticed how well we are. Good food, good rest, lovely clean air. Lots of walking…we’ve both lost weight and just feel so rejuvenated. I have not a single ache or pain and can’t remember the last time that happened.
We spent the afternoon making a big pot of lamb shank and Orzo zuppe (lamb and pearl barley soup) that we will reheat tonight when we return from Pescara.
We dined last eveing at our favourite ristorante and the waitress who is getting to know us asked me to check the English on the menu! Not bad just a few typo’s but hey what an honour. Our Italian has improved so much just in a week we must have impressed her.
Its blown up really gusty overnight. Will need my warmest coat today…
More later
